Flags for Freedom Pins to Support DC's Troops

The Corrections Foundation just received a new shipment of Flags for Freedom lapel pins. These nice quality pins have been available since 2003 in support of our DC troops who are serving in the US military. 100% of the proceeds from pin sales benefit the troops and their families. Thanks to your generosity, we have sent gift cards, phone cards and 300 care packages to our DC employees during deployment.

You can help us continue to support our DC troops until they all come home by purchasing a Flags for Freedom lapel pin for $5. You can purchase the pins on-line or you may write a check payable to the Corrections Foundation, with the memo FLAGS FOR FREEDOM, and mail to: 2601 Blair Stone Road, Tallahassee, FL 32399.

The Department of Corrections currently has more than 275 employees who are on active duty or on stand by in all branches of the National Guard. Some have recently returned from a 15 month deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan and others are awaiting orders. It have been privileged to get to know a few of the wives and families left behind during their loved ones deployment and they are sacrificing so much for our freedom and the wellbeing of innocent people around the world. To say we appreciate their service and sacrifice is an understatement.

Employee Assistance Update

Since July 2009, Corrections Foundation has assisted 280 DC employees with $331,500 in financial assistance. We are still experiencing a high number of requests for assistance similar to last year when we assisted 417 employees with $445,000.
